New Forest Middle Distance Triathlon

Filed under: News — ironheadracing @ 9:42 am

In a hotly anticipated race Rich, Ian, and Dai all took to the start line for this tough but highly enjoyable race. Dai exited the water first, closely followed by Ian, and then Rich.

Dai took an early lead on the bike but punctured and was soon overtaken by Ian and Rich. Rich – having a stroming bike leg and one his way to the 10th quickest split of the day – soon took a lead that he held until the 3rd mile of the run when Ian went ahead.

Ian, posting the 11th fastest run splitof the day finished his first ever middle distance race in a brilliant time of 4:59 to take 9th place overall and 3rd in the 20-29 age group. Rich finished in 5:09 to take 31st place and 7th in the 35-39 age group. Dai finished in 47th place in 5:21.

All three IHR athletes in the top 50 – very strong performance.
